Give your little friend a lush green home and test its predatory instincts by offering it some irresistible prey. In the wild, blobs feed on bacteria and fungi. While the process of devouring bacteria is relatively unremarkable, the way they consume fungi is an oddly satisfying spectacle. I suggest you recreate this scene in a terrarium. Roar!
Materials
- A large glass jar with a lid
- A blob
- Mushrooms (works with any type of mushroom. In the video: Shimeji and Enoki mushrooms, less than €1 per bunch at the Asian market)
- Sand
- A few pieces of wood (sticks or pieces of porous tree stump)
- Some humus (a mixture of soil and decomposing leaves)
- A plastic container
